Un'altra soluzione per Debian è questa:
basta eliminare le opzioni consigliate da gpgconfig.
In questo modo "gpm" e "XFree" non si danno fastidio.
##### MOUSE #####
# ln -s /dev/psaux /dev/mouse
# gpmconfig
# cat /etc/gpm.conf
device=/dev/mouse
responsiveness=
repeat_type=
type=ps2
append=""
sample_rate=
# cat /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
...cut...

Identifier "Touchpad"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Logitech USB"
Driver "mouse"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
...cut...
