Propendo per un "ip route" e` un bocchino. Ma un banale route -n?
Qualcuno/qualcosa ha impostato quella route. A sentimento:

dhcpclient che tenta di configurare la rete
dhcp server non trovato
ip/route assegnata "fallback"
configurazione successiva dell'interfaccia

Potrebbe essere nella misura in cui:

"169.254.0.0/16 - This is the "link local" block.  It is allocated for
communication between hosts on a single link.  Hosts obtain these
addresses by auto-configuration, such as when a DHCP server may not be
found."

(rfc3330).

E, mi sa che hai ragione: rh un po` succhia.
