Cosa ti porta a pensare che la posta vada su icmp?
Mi spiego meglio:
homegw:~# ping www.kill-9.it
PING www.kill-9.it (213.92.1.33) 56(84) bytes of data.
--- www.kill-9.it ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 4011ms
homegw:~# telnet www.kill-9.it 80
Trying 213.92.1.33...
Connected to inferno-pub.
Escape character is '^]'.
HEAD / HTTP/1.0
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Tue, 11 Mar 2003 00:38:55 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.27
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html
etc, etc.
Il ping non e` (piu`) uno strumento di test valido. Qualche
sconsiderato blocca anche i fragmentation required e altri
pacchetti icmp fondamentali, quindi...
homegw:~# telnet mail.elitel.it 25
[...]
220 mail5.elitel.it ESMTP
ciao!
