2) una sfilza interminabile di chiamate pppd da parte di root, sono
tutte uguali, cambia solo l'interfaccia ppp usata e il /dev/pts/xx,

voi ci capite qualcosa su cosa possa essere successo?
P.S. in rc3.d mi trovo vari servizi che _non_mi_sembra_ servano al mio
uso tenendo presente che la macchina non usa il dial on demand e non ha
una stampante collegata. In particolare mi riferisco a diald e lpd.
posso eliminarli (e eventualmente anche da init.d) o sono cmq richiesti
da altri servizi? Il casino di cui sopra puo' essere dato da diald non
configurato o mal configurato?
